Why hurrying to live?

The only way is enjoying

And, why not?

Notice how I don’t say live in a hurry.

Regardless that both share the word hurry, living in a hurry has this slight negative connotation.

Living in a hurry“ means living at a helter-skelter pace. Without stopping to enjoy. Without tasting.

In the other hand, “hurry to live“ means living grabbing every opportunity as it arrives. Enjoying everything that is in front of you at any moment.

Don’t leave it for later.

Do it.

Here.

Now.

Everything can go to hell from one day to the other. From one minute to the other.

Paraphrasing Ric Elias “I collect bad wines because, if the wine is ready and the person is there, I’m opening it“. At the end of this post, I leave you one of the motivational talks that has ever inspired me the most. They are just 5 minutes of pure gold.

But, what does that really mean?

Plain and simple: don’t postpone things indefinitely.

Do them.

Here.

Now.

Hurry to live.

A word of precaution, though. Enjoy what you do. Don’t take the picture just for the sake of taking and sharing it. Or just for ticking another box in your list of things to do once in life. Internalize everything that you experiment and is worth living. Make the most of the time you invest in it.

Do things with a purpose.

But do them. Hurry.

I reckon you have postponed long enough that trip, that restaurant, that kiss, that sorry.

If sooner or later you are going to do it, why don’t you do it at once?

Stop making up excuses. Excuses are only tricks that you make up yourself which slow down the desire of carrying out what you have wanted to do for so long.

Hurry to live.

Identifying the enemies that make you postpone indefinitely the items in your “* list of things to do once in life*” can be tricky.

Laziness. Bad weather. Kids. Fatigue. Dog. Saving money. Mortgage. Boss. Money. Work. Partner.

The list is very personal and subjective to every one of us. But many of the elements of the list may be common. And I understand that some excuses are heavier than others.

But, careful! They are as heavy as you want them to be. Remember that everything depends on the approach you want to take.

Afraid of falling in a cliche, nowadays we live through a screen.

We live through the eyes of other people!

And the opportunity of living things by yourself is at everyone’s reach. For better or for worse. But at everyone’s reach. And the opportunity to do these things can be taken away from you at any moment.

Life is too short to live it under the assumption of “leaving it for another moment“. Life can be too wonderful to not live to the fullest.

Decorate your life with the best experiences.

Strikethrough items on your list. Hurry. Until you strike them all through. Don’t be afraid of running out. If you do, create more.

Create new lists. And consume them as fast as you can.

Uncork bottles of wine.

When, for a major reason, you are not able to keep striking more through, you will regret it. You will look back blaming yourself for the time wasted. For the wasted opportunities. For the sacrificed occasions because “I will do it eventually”.

Live without hurry.

But hurry to live.
