When the greatness of few means the sacrifice of many

Money. Money. Money.

8 AM. The alarm. You stop it. Another snooze. What makes you wake up is not appealing to you at all. But you must do it.

The gear wheel moves another cog.

The rope tightens. It does not drag on the ground as it used to. Now, it is completely detached from it.

It does not choke yet.

Yawns. You sit at the edge of the bed. Alone or with someone, but you sit down. Yesterday, you already prepared everything you needed for the day. Or not.

Like an automaton, you head to the bathroom for that morning micturition. One look at the mirror and you see yourself. That is you. One of those many. The ones that save someone’s else skin. The ones that do the dirty work.

You have breakfast. Or not. You choose one. If not, you get ready to leave. If yes, you get ready to leave a little bit later. To leave. It doesn’t really matter what you choose. You have to do it anyway. You fool. Which world do you think you live in?

Freewill… Or that is what they say. That it exists. Or not. What difference does it make? You have to do it anyway. You fool.

Many are doing the same thing. 8:47 AM. “If I leave now, I will only be 5 minutes late“.

Everyone in a stampede. The sheep of the daily flock. High heels and ties. Blazers and briefcases. Or backpacks and sports shoes.

What difference does it make?

Every one of you goes to do the exact same thing.

Give it a name.

Social inertia.

Does anybody look in the eye? Nobody. How many people have you crossed your path with? A lot. Do you care about their lives? Not even a little.

You want to arrive.

9:07 AM.

The same again. The scene from 24 hours ago repeats. Is it possible? Of course, you fool. Don’t you see that you live in a trap? You don’t see that you live in a trap. Or maybe you do.

There is the same guy, as usual. Time to say hello and pretend. You just want to sink in your screen and keyboard. You still don’t give a shit about what they did last night.

Hehe. Haha.

Work, you fool. That is what they pay you for.

Finally, they leave you alone.

Password. Quick check. Same as yesterday. Inbox. Chat.

You stretch your body.

And remember where you left off.

If I had money…“ Stunned, you start imagining. In that world, which only exists in your head, everything is simple. Because you have money.

Money. Money. Money.

I have sent you what you asked for yesterday“.

You wake up and come back to reality.

Money. No, you don’t have enough money until… well, until you need the money.

Remember the gear wheel. The machinery is relentless. Everything is perfectly lubricated to keep working.

And you, as a compulsive gambler, are not able to stop being part of it. And, you know what? The house always wins. Because the game is made for the greatness of few.

5:30 PM. Time to leave.

What have you done today? It doesn’t matter. You must come back tomorrow.

You are wrong!“ “Am I wrong?“ Today is Friday and this weekend will be legendary.

Don’t worry, you fool. You will come back on Monday.

Weekend.

End of the weekend.

No matter how much you desire to escape, the gear is still engaged and keeps turning.

Meanwhile, our heads still think that the possibility of leaving the system is at reach. That you are in control and that you are the master of your own life. You can be, of course. Undeniable. But, what are your options when there is that something that rules all?

What is that something?

Let me give you a clue.

Money. Money. Money.

Only the insanity of a genius or the genius of someone insane will let you escape.

Madness. Genius.

Genius. Madman.

Break the mould. Don’t play by the rules. At least, do it in your head.

Think differently. Act differently.

Loosen up the rope and don’t let it choke you.

This is like the books of “Choose your own adventure“. Unfortunately, one of the choices is going to be to go back to the start of this post.

Many of us do it. A few ignore it.

Many of us make the best of it and accept it. But there is something far beyond.

We are what we decide to be. We choose what we decide to be. We decide what we want to choose.

Be. Choose. Decide.

Choose. Be. Decide.

Decide. Be. Choose.

Combine the three as you please. They are yours to do with them what makes more sense to you at any given moment.

Do not let them drive you at will. Do not be part of that sacrifice of many for the benefit of few.

The capitalist idea creates a false sensation of welfare, where we are rewarded with the regular increment of our capital. In other words, your salary.

But you add up once. And, how many times you subtract?

Let me tell you: all but one.

And for all the ones you subtract, few add up. And when you add up, few have already added up before you.

It is what it takes to live in a consumer society and work for others, respectively.

When do you win? You tell me. But, remember that you can break the rules.

That social inertia.

Take advantage of your ability to decide and play your hand in the best way possible.

Be a madman.

Be a genius.

But be for yourself.
